Over the last few weeks, we have traveled our region to its limits in preparation and celebration of Economic Development Week, which begins today, May 8.
We have traversed its boundaries and have eaten cheese in its corners. We have taken you to Allegany County, where we learned about the technological advances capable of our region’s universities. You’ve tagged along with us to Niagara County to see the Falls, Lockport, and Lewiston. We’ve toured Genesee County for both its farms and city streets. And we have done everything in between, too.
We have used Economic Development Week to highlight the movers and shakers of each of our eight counties. The rock stars of our region. The processes that yield progress. The stories that shape our successes.
Economic Development Week is a national campaign, hosted by International Economic Development Council and participated in by many cities across the nation. The purpose is to spread the word about this industry. There are truly talented and dedicated individuals working every day to help shape the future of our economy and its workforce, and this campaign is a way to share their stories. As our Erie County IDA partner Steve Weathers said on our road tour, “Economic development is prosperity for everybody within your community.”
Throughout the rest of this week, we will bring you to the hubs of our region, taking you under the microscope to our major cities. We’ll explore the tourism industry in the City of Niagara Falls and you’ll see the bustle of the City of Buffalo.
On Friday, we will post a photo gallery from the events of Economic Development Week and our roadshow, some of which have already been teased on our brand spanking new Instagram page (which deserves your follow).
We appreciate you tagging along for the roadshow, and hope you stick around for the rest of the week’s festivities, too.
