The industry has great history in this region and has helped to shape the character of its people. They’re committed to sustaining that success and have dedicated expansive resources to bolster that sector of our economy. Several initiatives have spun out of the state’s historic and visionary Buffalo Billion:

Water propels Buffalo Niagara forward
In 1825, the construction of the Erie Canal turned the Buffalo Niagara region from isolated frontier land to hub of activity. While that specific use no longer supports Buffalo Niagara’s clout, water in general still propels the region forward each day.

Flipping the switch on Bethlehem Steel
In its heyday, 22,000 blue-collars worked on the Bethlehem Steel site in Lackawana. My grandfather Frank Azzarello was one of the 22,000. So was Stephen Tobias, pictured below on the right.

Sometimes it’s as simple as finding the right place to start or someone to show you where that starting line even is located. That was the case with Magic White Inc., a company I met last spring at the Restaurants Canada trade show in Toronto. In just a couple short months, a brief conversation with company president Jim Anastasiadis on the trade show floor culminated with the establishment of Magic White USA, Magic White’s first formal U.S. presence here in the Buffalo Niagara region.
