Before the pandemic ever reached American shores, migration to its biggest cities was already slowing. Young professionals were opting for a more even balance between the amenities of a metropolitan area and the affordability of which those mega-metros cannot offer.

The pandemic and its economic disruption has only accelerated that trend. As has and as will a not-so-distant next hurdle: climate change.
