Buffalo Niagara is so great, sometimes it makes you not even want to leave. So, when our team does stay in for a "staycation", or take a "daycation" in the region, where do they end up?
Carolyn Powell – Business Development Manager
Our favorite staycation is definitely Ellicottville. We enjoy going down for the day to go for a hike/ski and dinner—or better yet, an overnight stay.
Alan Rosenhoch – Director of Business Development
We love going to the Chautauqua Institution for the weekend during the off-season. It is so quiet and tranquil; the perfect place to unplug and relax.
Greg Pokriki – Content and Digital Marketing Associate
We take a half hour drive up to Long Beach in Canada quite often during the summer. I love the slower pace, and a little tech detox never hurts. It’s a different country, but super accessible (Plus, I’m running the blog so I’ll allow it).
Olivia Hill – Business Development Specialist
The Foundry Suites on Elmwood is one of my favorite spots for a staycation. We had our wedding there, so it’s sentimental, but it’s also an awesome example of adaptive reuse in Buffalo (it’s the former FWS Factory Warehouse). After a stay, we make our way to Bagel Jay’s for one of “Buffalo’s Best” bagels.
Lorrie Abounader – Business Development Manager
My husband and I enjoy long walks so we always like to hit the great bike trails and nature walks around the region. There’s a variety of trails so we can rotate which we visit and never get bored with the same walk.
Casi Hall – Graphic Designer
My in-laws have a little cabin near Letchworth State Park in Genesee County. I love going there to see the stars and get some great hiking in. It's especially beautiful in the fall!
Alexandra Williams – Executive Assistant/Investor Relations Coordinator
My staycation is right in my living room relaxing! Like they say, there’s no place like home.
Jenna Kavanaugh – COO
Our favorite staycation is Ellicottville – it’s perfect for the whole family. You’ll find us enjoying Ski-High Adventure Park, hiking in nearby Rock City or skiing at Holiday Valley, depending on the season.
Matthew Hubacher – Research Manager
Taking the kids camping is always a highlight of the summer. There are so many great options it is hard to pick just one, so my advice is to try different sites to truly enjoy the full landscape of our region. Start with Letchworth State Park (“The Grand Canyon of the East”), but only if you’re into fresh air, lush forests, waterfalls, adventurous hiking trails and breathtaking scenery.
Tom Kucharski – President and CEO
One of the great things about our region is that you can leave the country and still consider it a staycation. I’ll go Niagara-on-the-Lake to boast our easy Canadian access.
Sarah Larson – Marketing Manager
An overnight "Buffalo Staycation" at least once a year is a must at one of my favorite local hotels like the Mansion on Delaware, Hotel Henry, Hotel at the Lafayette, or the Buffalo Marriott HARBORCENTER. Kick-off the afternoon ice skating at Canalside, warm-up with dinner, and then off to a Sabres Game!
